A new statewide Learning Management System (LMS) called Blackboard is coming next spring to the California Department of Child Support Services (CA DCSS). The Blackboard LMS will improve organizational efficiency by helping CA DCSS staff request and keep track of human resources and statewide trainings on a single platform. Some of the key advantages of Blackboard will include the ability to electronically request offsite training (no more paper requests!); electronically register for onsite and web-based trainings in one location; and the ability to track training compliance and digitize training records. County and regional child support agencies will be able to use Blackboard to access Child Support University (CSU).

Implementation of Blackboard is a collaborative effort between the CA DCSS Human Resources Branch and the Statewide Training Branch.  In the future, most statewide trainings currently being accessed through CSU and trainings facilitated by Human Resources will be available through Blackboard. Don’t worry, all material currently in CSU will transfer over to Blackboard prior to implementation, along with courses you’ve taken and completed.  Everyone who will use or be impacted by this new system will receive training prior to the program going live in spring of 2020.
