Child Support Awareness Month Events are Ramping Up!

By: Chad Reed, CA DCSS

Child Support Awareness Month (CSAM) is nearly upon us and there are hundreds of outreach events scheduled to take place in August across the state. This year’s campaign slogan, “you are there for them, we’ll be there for you,” focuses on educating the public about the various types of free or low-cost services that are available to parents and guardians throughout California. This year’s events range from superior court workshops to Kids Connect community celebrations!

This year, the Bay Area Region Child Support Collaborative (BARCS) expanded their partnership with Cumulus Media to spread the CSAM message live on the air and digitally during June, July, and August. Last year’s successful campaign garnered more than 2.5 million ad impressions, resulting in a 5 percent increase in calls and case openings over the previous year for all BARCS counties.

A few of the events scheduled to take place in the first few weeks of August are listed below. More statewide CSAM event details are on the website at: http://www.childsupport.ca.gov/child-support-awareness-month

Don’t be left out! Send details of your county CSAM events to be included in the statewide online event calendar, as well as promoted on all social media platforms, to chad.reed@dcss.ca.gov.
