Child Support Awareness Month 2019 is Coming!

By: Chad Reed, CA DCSS

August is quickly approaching and the California Department of Child Support Services (CA DCSS) has been working diligently to create, produce and launch this year’s Child Support Awareness Month (CSAM) campaign. The work began with a survey in which local child support agency (LCSA) employees submitted taglines to inspire an overall campaign concept. After receiving numerous creative ideas, LCSA and CA DCSS staff voted for their favorite. The submitter of this years’ CSAM campaign concept was James Bonafe, Public Information Officer at Tulare County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) with the tagline: “You are there for them, we’ll be there for you.”

The CA DCSS Office of Communications and Public Affairs team used CA DCSS employees and family to create three concepts for the campaign. This year’s CSAM posters were printed in eight languages and will be shipped to all LCSA locations by Tuesday, June 25th.

All CSAM materials – Governor’s letter, posters, website buttons/banners, radio and video public service announcements (PSAs)– are now available for download on California Child Support Central, the internal Child Support Program resource site. In addition, we have created a CSAM 2019 webpage for the CA DCSS public website. On this page, we will be boasting a calendar of all the county events, as well as a media section with logos, press releases, and video and radio public service announcements. The page can be found at If you would like any help with pitching CSAM stories or the video and radio PSAs to your local media, please let us know and we’ll be happy to offer our assistance.

As a friendly reminder, we are asking you to send details of the CSAM events that your county has planned to be included in the statewide calendar on the CSAM webpage, as well as promotion on our social media platforms. We ask that you send the events as you plan them and not wait until your list is final, as this gives us more time to get the page updated. Please send the event details to

We hope for a very successful CSAM campaign across the State!
