LCSA Holiday Events Part 2

San Francisco County DCSS

San Francisco County DCSS hosted its 15th annual Children’s Toy and Book Festival at San Francisco City Hall on December 5th. There were 1,200 children who – along with their parents, teachers, and chaperones – received gifts donated by the San Francisco Firefighters Union Local 798, San Francisco Public Library, and other community programs and city agencies.

Napa County DCSS

Napa County DCSS hosted its annual Toy Store from December 12th through December 23rd, partnering up with the American Automobile Association to help purchase clothes and gifts for 50 children in the community. Parents were able to pick out free gifts for their children when they visited the Napa County DCSS office. In addition, there were 40 children who received a new bike!

Riverside County DCSS

Riverside County DCSS worked with several partner agencies to give back to the communities they serve with their Gift Giveaway on December 20th. Riverside County DCSS worked with Riverside Unified School District and Riverside County’s Office on Aging to identify children and seniors in need for the holidays. Local community partners also donated hundreds of dollars to help those in need. Additionally, Riverside County DCSS adopted several families within their caseload to fulfill their Christmas wishes.   

Shasta County DCSS

Shasta County DCSS held their annual Holiday Luncheon on December 14th and welcomed former retired employees to join the celebration.  Shasta County DCSS also adopted children of Butte County staff who were affected by the Camp Fire, purchasing each child’s “wish list” of items.

San Luis Obispo County DCSS

San Luis Obispo County DCSS participated in Toys 4 Tots on December 14th, donating a total of 120 toys for children and families in need over the holidays.

Del Norte County DCSS

Del Norte County DCSS hosted a fun community event on December 21stcalled “Live Phone Calls from Santa.”  In collaboration with Crescent City Jaycees, Del Norte County DCSS established a local phone center so young children could call Santa Claus and his elves – played by local volunteers – to communicate their Christmas wishes.

San Joaquin County DCSS

San Joaquin County DCSS staff enjoyed the holiday with a Favorite Holiday Character Costume Contest held on December 17th. Staff members were encouraged to get creative while dressing up as their favorite characters. Congratulations to staff member Lisa Mendoza for her winning Santa Claus costume. 

San Joaquin County DCSS staff worked in teams to see who could create the most festive and most decorative door for their Door Decorating Contest on December 19th. The prize for most festive went to the “O, Christmas Tree” door and the winner for the most decorative was the “Nightmare Before Christmas” door. Congratulations to both teams!

Kings County DCSS

Kings County DCSS held its annual Sock Drive on December 18th. Staff members helped to collect and distribute over 200 slipper socks to seniors and citizens recovering from illnesses in the community.
