CA DCSS Staff Bring Glad Tidings to the Sacramento Children’s Home

For the third year, California Department of Child Support Services (CA DCSS) staff participated in the annual Sacramento Children’s Home Holiday Gift Wish Program, celebrating the season of giving with donations of toys and gift cards to benefit local children in need. To donate, staff had the option to choose from 50 gift “stars” or 50 gift cards. The 50 “stars” were wish lists, from either a boy or girl ranging in age from five to 18, who sent their holiday hopes for a bike, clothes, toys or art supplies. Gift cards were in denominations of $25 or $50, or an amount of the donor’s choice, from varying stores such as Walmart, Target or Kohl’s. Responses from staff were immediate, with 80 slots filled before the Thanksgiving holiday. To keep up with demand, 20 new stars were added.

Thanks to the generosity of staff, CA DCSS donated twice the number of gifts as last year and $1,100 in gift cards. Some big-ticket items were donated, including a drafting table, three bicycles, two scooters and three tablets. It took two pickup trucks to donate all of the items to the Sacramento Children’s Home on December 13th.

Thanks to the participants who helped make a child’s wish come true in this year’s program, all of CA DCSS can be very proud of the holiday spirit!
