The California Department of Child Support Services (CA DCSS) staff continues to participate in more fundraising events, already smashing last year’s total, for the 2018 Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services Food Drive. In November, 25 CA DCSS staff members participated in the “Run to Feed the Hungry” on Thanksgiving Day. The registration fees from the event totaled $980, which translated to 2,450 pounds in food donations to the department’s total contributions. Staff members also donated $226 in cash on “Giving Tuesday,” adding an additional 566 pounds in food donations. On December 14th, the department held a silent auction with items such as wine tasting trips, Southwest Airlines tickets, hotel stays, and horseback riding lessons which added a whopping $3,298, equating to 8,245 pounds of food! These activities bring the current amount of equivalent food donations to 13,830 pounds, exceeding last year’s collection of 9,281 pounds!

Be on the lookout for more updates as the food drive continues through February.
