Orange County DCSS Receives 2018 Challenge Award

By: Steven Eldred, Orange County DCSS

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Orange County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) has received another recognition for our efforts in the ways we serve our customers. In September, Orange County DCSS was named a recipient of the 2018 Challenge Award from the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) in the category of Government Finance, Administration & Technology for our Teen Parent Program.

Each year, CSAC honors California counties for developing and implementing innovative, effective and cost-saving ways to provide programs and services to their citizens in a creative spirit. This year, CSAC received nearly 275 entries from counties across California, and of those only 15 programs were selected to receive the CSAC Challenge Award. Orange County DCSS is honored to be among the recipients this year!

The Teen Parent Program performs specialized outreach to minor parents focusing on education and long-term parental success beyond child support. Although the teen parent caseload is small in comparison to our overall caseload, supporting this fragile population of parents between the ages of 14 and 18 reinforces our vision of being trusted partners with all parents.
