On Friday, June 8th Governor Jerry Brown announced that David Kilgore, Director of the Riverside County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) will be the new Director of California DCSS. Director Kilgore’s swearing in ceremony was held on Monday, June 25th at CA DCSS headquarters in Rancho Cordova. CA DCSS staff are excited to have Director Kilgore on board with his vast experience in the Child Support Program throughout the state since 2002.
Kilgore has been director of the Riverside County Department of Child Support Services since 2015. He previously served as the chief deputy director of the Los Angeles County Department of Child Support Services where he was deputy director of operations from 2008 to 2013. He was deputy director of operations at the San Bernardino County Department of Child Support Services from 2006 to 2008 and held several positions at the Tulare County Department of Child Support Services from 2002 to 2006, including program manager and staff services analyst.
“I like this program and if there’s a chance I can help the program grow, evolve, and overcome, I’m willing to give it a shot,” Kilgore said in an email to local child support agency directors and CA DCSS executive staff.
Kilgore offers unique insight into the daily workings of a local child support agency (LCSA) office and the challenges they face.
“The relationship between the State and the LCSAs is very important to me and to Agency,” Kilgore wrote. “Everyone (LCSA and State staff) is looking for better, more positive, interactions when communicating and working across those lines. I want to be able to trust and know that the LCSAs are delivering amazing services to our constituents and I want the LCSAs to know and trust that the State will be there to support the LCSAs in that effort.”
